V3.0 introduces several small refinements to crafting recipes. The three main points that matter to everyday players are “choosing a forge smelting method,” “resource bundles,” and “ammo crafting times.”
You Can Now Choose Your Forge Smelting “Method”
The biggest change this time is to smelting at the forge. In addition to the familiar method of melting materials down into the forge and storing them up, a new system has apparently been added that lets you choose a method where materials like scrap iron and clay lumps are consumed directly each time you craft.
This appears to be something toggled by server-side settings, so which one applies in your play environment depends on the server’s configuration. If you’re used to the melt-and-store method, it’s worth keeping in mind that behavior may differ from server to server. Note that the required material quantities have also been revised for some recipes.
New Bundles Let You Carry Resources “in Bulk”
A new recipe for combining basic resources—such as scrap iron, wood, stone, coal, and lead—into a single bundle has been added. It’s a hauling-oriented feature that lets you compactly consolidate resources that tend to clog up your inventory when loose.
It should come in handy when moving large amounts of resources between bases or organizing your gear for an expedition. Crafting a bundle takes a small amount of time by design.
“Crafting Time” Set for Ammo Crafting
Crafting times have now been explicitly set for many ammo recipes, including 9mm, .44 Magnum, 7.62mm, shotgun shells, arrows, and crossbow bolts. This appears to be part of the balance tuning and affects how long it takes to mass-produce ammo in one go.
Summary
Rather than a major overhaul, V3.0’s recipe changes center on tuning for playability and balance. Since the forge smelting method may vary with server settings, we recommend first checking how it behaves on the server you join. Resource bundles are a handy addition that makes hauling much easier, so be sure to put them to use.
