The key point about the challenge changes in V3.0 is that there’s no major reshuffling of challenge names or the rewards themselves; instead, “distinguishing between types” and “ease of completion” have seen subtle improvements. There’s almost nothing here that will confuse regular players, but there are a few things worth knowing.
Gathering and Hunting Challenges Now Clearly Distinguished
The gathering challenges that used to be somewhat ambiguous have been reorganized so they’re distinguished by the type of gathering—”resources,” “ore,” and “crops.” It’s now clearer than before exactly what you need to collect to make progress count.
In addition, animal hunting challenges for rabbits, chickens, deer, and so on are now treated as a separate category from “enemy kills” like zombies. You can think of it as animal-hunting challenges and enemy-killing challenges being less likely to get mixed together in the count.
Introductory Challenges for Beginners
The “Basics” group is now positioned as a set of introductory challenges for people who have just started the game. Early-game onboarding (getting used to the controls and basic flow) and receiving trader quest rewards have been adjusted to connect more naturally. If you’re just starting out, working through this group first should help you get a solid grasp of the fundamentals.
New Honey Dishes for Healing Challenges
For healing challenges that cure diseases and debuffs, new honey dishes have been added to the items usable for treatment. Specifically, dishes like Honey Tea are now recognized as means of treatment (along with dishes like Honey Brisket and Honey Glazed Ham also making an appearance). In situations that were previously limited to specific medicines or teas, your options have expanded a bit.
Note that the internal handling of some ailments like dysentery (diarrhea) has also been revised, but in terms of how it feels to play, understanding it as “there are more items you can use for treatment” is all you need.
Summary
V3.0’s challenges are centered not on a flashy rebuild, but on organizing types and improving beginner onboarding. Gathering and hunting challenges are counted more accurately, and healing challenges let you use new honey dishes—keep these two points in mind and you’ll be all set.
