In V3.0, the data behind every “block” (placeable object) in the game has been rebuilt on a large scale. Behind the scenes, the systems for containers, doors, signs, land claim blocks, and more have been unified, but the way things feel during normal play basically hasn’t changed. From a player’s perspective, the main changes are “more new placeables” and “some familiar blocks have been rebuilt.”
Newly Added Placeables
V3.0 adds several decorative and practical blocks. As far as we can confirm, these include the following.
- A working wall clock
- New TV variations
- Trash piles (new types)
- M60 turret
- combineStation (a new placeable for crafting/work)
- A large satellite unit
- Windowless trailer door (different color)
The working wall clock and the new TVs in particular look like they’ll broaden your options for base building. The combineStation is a new workbench-style block, and it’s best to get hands-on to find out exactly what it’s for.
Familiar Blocks That Have Been Rebuilt
Staple blocks like lockers, wooden/metal/steel ladders, and metal catwalks and railings have been completely rebuilt internally. Their basic roles are the same, but their behavior and appearance when placed may differ slightly from before. If you use them heavily in your base building, it’s worth checking how they feel once you place them.
What to Keep in Mind During Normal Play
Containers (storage), locking, doors, signs, land claim blocks, and the like have had their underlying systems merged into a common approach. This is a cleanup at the data-structure level, and the actual operations—opening and closing, storing, and locking—work just as they did before. It’s possible this overhaul has made these behaviors more consistent, but we can’t say for certain.
All in all, the block changes in V3.0 center on “rebuilding the foundation plus adding new placeables.” You shouldn’t run into much confusion during normal play, but be sure to check out the new additions like the clock, TVs, and combineStation as part of the fun of base building.
