7 Days to Die has a rich modding scene, ranging from UI improvements to large-scale total conversions. This guide covers the basics of installing mods and the points where people commonly get stuck.
Where to Put Mods
Mods are generally loaded simply by placing a “folder for each mod” into the Mods folder inside the game folder.

└ Mods/
├ あるMOD/
│ ├ ModInfo.xml
│ └ Config/ …
└ 別のMOD/
- Each folder containing a
ModInfo.xmlcounts as one mod - They are loaded when you restart the game
Points to Watch When Installing
- Check the supported version: Use mods that match your game version (V2.x / V3.0, etc.). Version mismatches are a common cause of problems
- Watch for conflicts: Mods that edit the same files can conflict with each other. Add them a few at a time and check that things work
- EAC (anti-cheat): Some mods require EAC to be turned off. Toggle it via the launch options
- Backups: Before installing mods that make major changes, it’s reassuring to set aside a copy of your save data
Playing on a Server
When a server is running its own custom mods on the server side (such as White River Territory), as with our community’s servers, you may also need to install the same mods on the client side for certain visuals and features to work.
- If elements are broken or missing when you join a server, it’s often a case where the client mods need to be updated (pulled)
- Follow the server’s instructions for how to distribute and update them (for details, see How to Play on the Official Server & Intro to WRT)
