What is this MOD?
CAS (Cosmetic Armor System) is a “support MOD” created by LittleRedSonja. It appears to extend the cosmetic/wardrobe (dress-up) system introduced in 7 Days to Die’s v2 from the ground up, letting you cleanly integrate custom armor and outfits into that framework.
The author themselves describes it as “a MOD quite different from my usual style.” Rather than dramatically changing your appearance on its own, it seems positioned as an “unsung hero” for loading other MODs and your own custom gear onto the dress-up system.
Key Features
- Custom gear integration: It appears you can incorporate not just vanilla items but also armor and outfits from other MODs or your own creations into the new cosmetic/wardrobe slots.
- Choose your unlock method: For both vanilla and custom cosmetics, you can select how they are unlocked.
- Standard … the same normal unlocking as vanilla
- UnlockedAll … everything unlocked from the start
- Disable … disables the cosmetic system itself
- UI improvements: Functionality has been added to the dress-up UI so the menu stays manageable even when you add lots of cosmetics.
- High compatibility: It is said to work without issues alongside the MODs the author is aware of, including large overhauls such as Rebirth and Escape from Tarkov.
Installation Tips
- Because this MOD uses C# (DLL),
0_TFP_HARMONYis required in your Mods folder. It’s best to have it ready before installing. - It’s important to choose the version that matches your game version.
- Game 3.0 and later … the latest version of CAS
- Game 2.x … use CAS 1.6.2
- Installation should follow the usual procedure: place the downloaded folder into your game’s
Modsfolder. For multiplayer, be careful to match the configuration on both the server and client sides. - For the specific supported versions and the latest notes, we recommend always checking the most recent information on the Nexus distribution page.
Who is this for?
- MOD creators and server operators who want to properly load their own custom gear or MOD gear onto the vanilla dress-up system
- Players who want to manage cosmetic unlocking to suit their own playstyle, such as “everything unlocked from the start” or “completely off”
- Players who play in combination with large overhauls like Rebirth or Tarkov and want to stabilize the foundation around appearances
Conversely, please note that this is not a MOD that immediately adds new armor or flashy looks on its own. It seems to be the type that shows its true value when combined with other gear MODs, serving purely as a “foundation that organizes the appearance system.”
