What Is This MOD?
SCG Defense Solutions v2.1 Exp (author: Diggi, category: Items and Loot) appears to be a MOD that adds more powerful and distinctive defensive equipment for players who aren’t satisfied with 7 Days to Die’s vanilla turrets. From fixed heavy machine gun turrets, to special fences that burn zombies away, to ceiling-mounted turrets, it greatly expands the variety of base defense options.
Note that the version distributed on Nexus isn’t shared by the author themselves, but rather by a volunteer who has shared a working version. For detailed specifications or bug inquiries, it’s best to contact the author directly.
Main Features
According to the description, the following equipment is included.
- .50 M2 Turret — A long-range (range 30) heavy machine gun turret. A version with a light is also available.
- .44 BOX Turret — Short-range (range 15), narrow-angle 3-round burst. An advantage seems to be that it lets you make use of
.44ammo, which previously had few applications. - .44 Ceiling Turret — Medium-range (range 20), 360-degree coverage, designed for ceiling mounting.
- Vulture Hunter Turret — Medium-range (range 22), 360-degree auto shotgun. It seems usable both for dealing with vultures and for general defense.
- Small Saw Trap — A 1×1×1 melee trap made from a modified bench saw.
- Overcharge Fence Post — Like a regular electric fence, but instead of electrocuting zombies it sets them on fire (60 power per post).
- RadBlock Fence Post — A type that nullifies the regeneration ability of radiated zombies (150 power).
In addition, utility equipment such as concrete barricades (two types: 2×3 and 2×1) and LED strip lights (three types: 1m, 2m, and 4m) also appear to be added. Some elements related to changing vanilla turret settings seem to be included as well.
Installation Tips
As with typical server-side/client MODs, it’s likely installed by extracting it into the Mods folder. Given that the version name includes Exp (Experimental), it’s safest to try it out after making a backup first. If you use it in multiplayer, it’s reassuring to confirm in advance whether installation is required and whether things are consistent on both the server and participant sides. Check the Nexus distribution page for the latest information on supported versions and any conflicts.
Who Is This For?
- Those who are tired of vanilla turrets and want to add more variety to their defense.
- Those who want to solve specific challenges with equipment, such as making use of surplus
.44ammo or dealing with vultures. - Those who want to build up their base with unusual fences like incineration or radiation-nullifying types.
On the other hand, for those who don’t want to disrupt the vanilla feel, or who want to avoid the instability of an experimental version, waiting until a stable release comes out is also a valid choice.
