In V3.0, a range of degradation and repair options let you decide just how brutal the apocalypse is on your gear. It’s all part of the sandbox settings.
Repair Method
Choose from:
- No repairs
- Repair Kits only
- Combine repairs only (see “Combine Station”)
- Both kits and combining
Permanent Repair Degradation
Each repair permanently reduces the item’s maximum durability. Choose how much it drops:
- Choose from 5, 10, 15, 20, or 25%
- Note: the first repair is free (no degradation)
Death Degradation
- Choose how much durability you lose on death
- Can even be set to a permanent loss of maximum durability
Combine these settings and you can build a hardcore world where your gear steadily wears down with every fight, or a laid-back world with no degradation at all. The official “Madmole’s Mayhem” preset is one example of a harsher setup, applying loss of both inventory and durability on death (see “150 Sandbox Settings and Official Presets”).
📌 Updated in V3.0.1 (Stable): A bug where an item’s maximum degradation value would reset when you restarted the game and rejoined the server has been fixed. For details, see [V3.0.1] Stable Update Summary.
