What kind of MOD is this?
Noble's Katana (swords) is a weapon MOD by the author Noblegases. It adds four bladed weapons inspired by Japanese swords to the vanilla melee lineup — Katana / Nodachi / Wakizashi / Tanto. All of them can be obtained through crafting, as loot, or (very rarely) from traders.
According to the description, v2.0 introduced a complete Unity-side rework by Little Red Sonja, refreshing the visuals and the equipment handling. The version currently being maintained is this v2.0 line (compatible with 7DTD v2.0+), while separate versions exist for the older Alpha 21.2 and the v1.0 line. We recommend checking in advance that the version you plan to install matches your own game version.
Main features
- Adds four Japanese-style blades. You’ll likely be able to switch between swords of different lengths and reach depending on the situation.
- The weapons are unlocked through craftingBlades (the blade-crafting line) and are designed to be affected by existing perks such as
deep cutsandflurry of agility. The balance seems aimed at fitting naturally into vanilla melee builds. - Includes a multi-part quest line called “Path of the Samurai.” The quests’ kill requirements and progression are said to be adjusted to match the new items as well.
- It supports crafting, loot, and trader acquisition alike, and claims to be “balance-adjusted” so as not to be excessively overpowered.
Installation tips
- It requires installation on both server and client, and because it includes resource files, you will very likely need to turn EAC (Easy Anti-Cheat) off (the author also notes “EAC off ?”). If you use it in multiplayer, make sure everyone’s setup matches.
- You can safely assume that backing up your save data before installing is essential.
- As a caveat, Quartz and the author’s other MOD Attribute-Skill-Perk Window Resize rewrite progression, so you are advised to standardize on just one approach — either those or this MOD. If you have already maxed out craftingBlades there’s no problem, but otherwise it’s safer not to swap MODs midway (this appears to be a caution to avoid save corruption).
Who is it recommended for?
- Those who want to enjoy building a Japanese/samurai-themed world or making their stream look striking
- Those who want to master a melee-blade-focused build rather than going gun-heavy
- Those who want not just an added weapon but a sense of accomplishment through a dedicated quest
On the other hand, since turning EAC off and managing MOD conflicts are prerequisites, it’s fair to say this is aimed at people already somewhat used to running MODs rather than complete first-timers. For details and the latest compatibility status, be sure to check the MOD page on Nexus.
(Supplementary note) If you plan to adopt it on our community servers, it seems safest to first separate out any conflicts with WRT’s craftingBlades progression and existing blade weapons, then verify the behavior in a testing environment such as the 1F server. If needed, we can also put together a procedure for installation testing.
