What kind of MOD is it?
『Pant’s Weapon Pack』is a MOD that adds weapons to 7 Days to Die in line with the game’s vanilla weapon tiers (iron, steel, and so on). The author, Pantstain, raises the concern that “many weapon MODs are appealing, but their rough edges stand out—things like misaligned sights and poor animations”—and the goal is to carefully polish exactly those areas. According to the description, the plan is to first provide one weapon of each type and each tier, and then expand the variations from there.
Rather than packing in flashy, overpowered weapons, this pack is best understood as one that aims to add weapons that “blend naturally into vanilla.”
Key features
Based on what can be gathered from the description, it appears to have the following features.
- Vanilla-based balancing — No extremely powerful (OP) weapons are included; the design is meant to be on par with existing weapons.
- See-through scopes — Inspired by the Fallout 4 MOD of the same name, it uses scopes that keep your field of view open when you look through them.
- LED-style flashlight — The light’s color is made whiter and brighter, in an LED style.
- Scope support for shotguns — Unlike vanilla, you can apparently attach reflex sights and small scopes to shotguns as well.
- Thermal melee weapons — There are melee weapons whose appearance changes when you attach the “burning shaft” MOD.
- Laser weapons can be separated out — If laser-type weapons aren’t to your taste, the setup lets you remove them simply by deleting the relevant folder.
- The official description states that compatibility with IZY-All in One Gun Pack v5.1 has been confirmed.
Installation tips
As with typical MOD installation, you’ll likely download and extract the folder, then place it into your Mods folder. For multiplayer use, it reportedly needs to be installed on both the server and the client, so we recommend that everyone participating installs it.
As a note of caution, the author emphasizes that you should not delete the 0_TFP_Harmony folder (deleting it will stop zombies from moving), and also that installing via Vortex tends to cause problems and is not supported. Placing the folder manually seems to be the safer choice. For the version and supported build, please check the latest information on Nexus.
Who is it recommended for?
- People who want to add just a bit more variety to their weapons without breaking the balance
- Players who value immersion and are bothered by rough sights and animations
- People who want the finer conveniences, such as putting scopes on shotguns or keeping their view clear through a scope
Conversely, if you’re looking for powerful weapons that far exceed the stats, or fantasy-leaning gear, the direction is different, so another MOD may suit you better.
