🍳 The Cook is a culinary artisan who transforms limited ingredients into the finest dishes. A crafting profession that puts their skills to work for everyone in town, using vanilla ingredients and recipes. No MOD required — you can play on PS5, Xbox, and Steam cross-play servers with nothing but chat commands.
The Town’s Shared Pantry
A Cook’s ingredients gather in the “Town Shared Pantry.” It’s a system where everyone stockpiles actual vanilla items (raw meat, eggs, animal fat, boiled water, various canned goods, and crops) together.
- 🌾 The Farmer’s Harvest … corn, potatoes, mushrooms, blueberries, pumpkins, and more go into the pantry
- 🛒 The Cook’s Procurement (
/prep) … raw meat, eggs, fat, boiled water, canned goods, and other ingredients the farmer can’t grow are brought from the market into the pantry (has a cooldown)
You can check the pantry’s stock in real time at the bottom of the job list page.
How to Play (Procure → Prep → Cook → Serve)
- Take the job:
/job 料理人 - Procure:
/prep— replenish the pantry with ingredients - Cook:
/cook <dish>— cook using vanilla recipes. Once it’s done, move on to plating and serving - Plating (income):
/plate— plate up the finished dish and earn a food item and coins - Hospitality (serving):
/serve <target>— treat someone nearby to a dish, giving them food plus a hospitality buff - Kitchen:
/menu— check the pantry’s stock, what’s cooking, and the recipe list
As with one-off jobs, income goes 90% to coins at your feet, 10% to your faction’s shared funds.
Vanilla-Faithful Multi-Step Recipes
Vanilla cooking in 7 Days to Die prepares ingredients in stages. The Cook follows suit.
- 🌽 corn → 🌾 cornmeal (intermediate ingredient) → 🥧 into pies and cornbread
- 🥩 raw meat → 🍖 grilled meat (intermediate ingredient) → 🍲 into meat stew and 🥩 steak
Intermediate ingredients (cornmeal, grilled meat) are prepared instantly with /cook and added to the pantry. Then you use them to make elaborate finished dishes — the real flow of cooking.
Dishes you can make (a selection): 🍠baked sweet potato / 🌽roasted corn / 🥚boiled egg / 🍞cornbread / 🍳bacon and eggs / 🥣vegetable stew / 🍲meat stew / 🥩steak and potatoes / 🥧blueberry pie / 🥧pumpkin pie / 🌮fish tacos / 🍝spaghetti / 🍛gumbo stew (exquisite)
The Hospitality Buff — The Cook’s Highlight
When you treat someone nearby to a dish with /serve <target>, a “hospitality buff” is added on top of the food item.
- 🥣 soups, stews, and pies … healing (
buffHealFood) - 🍖 grilled meat, bacon and eggs, and steak … stamina boost (
buffFoodStaminaBonus)
Serve up dishes at your base or the community hall and everyone gets energized. Banquets, entertaining, soup kitchens — it’s a playstyle unique to the Cook, one that supports other players.
NPC Orders
With /order you can take a customer’s order (a specific dish). Make, plate, and serve the ordered dish within the time limit and the reward is increased. You can earn steadily even during hours when no one’s around.
Working with the Farmer — The Production Chain
A Cook’s ingredients are supplied by the harvest of the Farmer. When the farmer harvests crops from their field, they stockpile in the shared pantry, and the Cook uses them to cook.
🌾 Farmer → (ingredients) → 🍳 Cook → (dishes and hospitality) → everyone’s table
The more farmers there are, the richer the pantry; the more cooks there are, the more valuable crops become. The town’s food economy starts to turn (and even without a farmer, a Cook can keep going by procuring with /prep).
