In 7 Days to Die, gear such as weapons, armor, tools, and vehicles loses durability the more you use it, and its performance drops over time. The Repair Kit (internal name: resourceRepairKit) is an all-purpose repair supply for restoring worn-down equipment and vehicles like these.
Uses
As the in-game description states, it’s used to repair equipment items and vehicles. Its biggest advantage is that you can take care of a main weapon whose durability has dropped out in the field, or a vehicle that’s started rattling during exploration, right on the spot without having to return to base. It’s reassuring to always carry a few so you can use them quickly before and after combat or long-distance travel.
How to Obtain and Craft
Since Repair Kits are consumables, having several in stock is a given. The basic flow is to gather materials and craft them yourself, or to replenish them from traders and drops found while exploring. We recommend keeping materials on hand as a matter of habit and preparing a batch before you set out.
Specs to Watch Out For
As clearly noted in the description, behavior can change depending on the sandbox (game settings).
- Depending on the settings, using Repair Kits at all may not be permitted
- There may be a rule of the “once an item has been repaired, it can no longer be repaired again” type in effect
Under the latter setting, “a repair is a one-time, precious chance,” so it’s important to decide to use it only on the one item you truly want to fix. Be sure to check your server’s or world’s rules in advance.
Summary of when to use it: For extending the life of your main gear and vehicles. Especially under settings with repair limits, it’s an item whose value rises the better you judge the timing of its use.
