The shortcut to surviving a Blood Moon isn’t a stronger weapon — it’s building terrain that forces zombies to approach from only one direction. If you don’t get surrounded, you won’t die. With the structure below, even iron-tier tools are enough to pull through.
Core Concept
- Don’t get surrounded: Getting hit from every direction is basically instant death. Limit the attack face to a single spot.
- Force them into a line: If you funnel them into a 1-block-wide corridor, the number that can hit you at once drops dramatically.
- Stand on a raised platform: If you stand 1–2 blocks higher than the zombies, melee zombies struggle to reach you while you can strike them one-sidedly.
Building the Minimal Setup
- Build a platform 2 blocks above the ground, and extend a 1-wide corridor in front of it.
- Place a hatch or a step partway along the corridor to bait zombies into trying to climb. While they’re in the climbing motion, their counterattacks are delayed.
- Lay iron spikes (a fence) for 1–2 blocks between the platform and the zombies to chip them down before they get close.
- Completely wall off the player’s back and sides with blocks. Keep only one escape route open.
Tactical Tips
- Watch for structural damage: Zombies target the platform’s support pillars. Reinforce the base with concrete or better, and always bring spare blocks.
- Aim for the head: Even with the same weapon, headshots are far more stamina-efficient. Stay calm and aim for the head.
- Never run out of healing: Bring plenty of bandages, food, and water. Ignoring bleeding is the number one cause of death.
At first, don’t aim for a flashy fortress — just stick to the three points of “single line, high ground, secured escape route” and you can win comfortably. Once you’re used to it, lengthen the corridor to add more chip-damage zones.
