What kind of MOD is it?
Firearms Expansion 5 (author: Smadol / quentfr21) is a large-scale gameplay MOD that adds numerous firearms modeled after real guns, along with modification and crafting elements, to 7 Days to Die. Originally a series created by Smadol99, it is being updated and carried on with the permission of the original author. It appears to be aimed at players who feel that vanilla’s limited lineup of guns leaves something to be desired, dramatically increasing the variety of firearms all at once.
Based on the description, many of the added weapons can be crafted at the workbench and come with schematics, while a few “special weapons” such as the minigun, M82, and AA-12 are treated as non-craftable.
Main Features
- A wealth of added firearms: A wide variety of guns reminiscent of real firearms are added, broadening your options in combat and equipment choices.
- Crafting & schematic support: Most weapons can be crafted at the workbench, and corresponding schematics have also been added (with the exception of some special weapons).
- Built for 1.0: The description states it is designed and tested to work on 7 Days to Die version 1.0, and it may not necessarily work on newer or older versions.
- EAC must be turned OFF: Because it is a modding-type MOD that includes DLLs and the like, it assumes that EAC (Easy Anti-Cheat) is turned off at launch.
Installation Tips
As with typical large-scale MODs, the basic flow is to extract it into the Mods folder to install it and launch the game with EAC OFF. If you want to use it in multiplayer (on a dedicated server), the same MOD must be installed on both the server and the client. However, operation on dedicated servers has not been thoroughly tested by the author, and there have been cases of errors depending on the environment, so it is recommended to try it out on a new world first before adding it to an existing world.
Also, it is not intended to be used alongside other large-scale MODs that make changes to weapons, weapon crafting, accessories, or perk trees (such as Ravenhearst, War3zuk, and Darkness Falls), and you should be aware that conflicts could cause problems. We recommend making a backup before installing.
Who is it recommended for?
- People who have grown tired of vanilla’s gun lineup and want to dramatically increase the variety of firearms
- People who want to enjoy weapon-making centered on crafting and collecting schematics
- People who don’t mind turning EAC OFF or managing MODs and are ready to try it out on a new world
Conversely, it may not be suitable for people who want to combine it with multiple large-scale overhaul MODs, or who want to play casually with vanilla as-is. It seems best to first experience its wealth of firearms on its own in a new world.
Since behavior regarding installation and compatibility can change depending on the version and environment, please be sure to check the latest information on the Nexus MOD page.
