Have you ever felt frustrated when the loot bags dropped by zombies in 7 Days to Die vanish before you can get back to collect them? This time we’re introducing a simple MOD by Danzo that helps cut down on those missed pickups.
What kind of MOD is it?
“3.0 Danzo LootBag (And animals) Increase Timer” is a MOD that extends the amount of time loot bags dropped by zombies and others stay on the ground. In vanilla they disappear after about 60 minutes (real time), but with this MOD installed that stretches out to about 2 hours.
According to the author, it does not change the drop rate itself, so it can be described as an adjustment that “only extends the window for collection” without significantly upsetting the balance.
It supports a wide range of versions—in addition to v3.0 and above, it also appears to work on v1.0–1.4 and v2.0–2.6.
Main features
- Extends loot bag persistence time from 60 minutes to 2 hours (seems to be based on real time)
- Drop rates stay the same, so the amount you obtain shouldn’t change
- An optional version is available: with this one, the time it takes for all animal corpses—including the zombie ones—to disappear is also extended, so they remain from the usual roughly 5 minutes up to a maximum of 2 hours
- Supports a wide range of versions, making it easy to get started with
The optional version that extends corpse persistence time seems handy for those who want to put off harvesting, or who want to plan out a hunting route. That said, since corpses stay around longer, it might be wise to keep an eye on things when using it in an environment where rendering load is a concern.
Installation tips
Just like a typical MOD installation, you’ll likely place the entire downloaded folder into your Mods folder.
- The key is to choose either the standard or optional version depending on whether you only want the bag extension, or want the animal corpse extension included as well (be careful not to have both installed at once)
- It appears to be the type that mainly rewrites XML (config values), and MODs like these tend to have relatively few compatibility issues
- When using it in multiplayer, MODs of this kind often only need to be installed on the server side to apply to everyone (please check the details for your specific environment)
Recommended for people who…
- Are troubled by bags vanishing before they can get back to collect them after combat
- Are solo, take-it-easy players who explore wide areas and tend to take a while to collect loot
- Don’t want to upset the balance, but want a little extra comfort (QoL)
- Are focused on hunting and material gathering and want to harvest animal corpses together later
It’s not flashy, but it can be called an unsung hero of a MOD that precisely eliminates a common, all-too-familiar source of stress.
