When building a base in 7 Days to Die, smoothing out the bumps and dips in the ground — “leveling” the terrain — turns out to be a surprisingly tedious chore, doesn’t it? This OCB Leveling Tool appears to be a MOD that adds a dedicated tool built specifically for that leveling work.
What kind of MOD is it?
It’s a MOD in the Utilities category by author ocbMaurice that seems to add a tool for smoothing terrain called the “Farming Hoe.” Rather than simply flattening the ground, it’s characterized by an alternate action that smooths the terrain to match cube-shaped blocks and shapes (shape blocks). This apparently keeps the seams between building blocks and the ground from being jagged, giving a clean finish.
For those who focus on “looks-first base building” or “large-scale grading,” it can be called a tool that greatly cuts down on the painstaking work of leveling terrain.
Main Features
- Level the surroundings all at once: When used while standing, it appears to process the four adjacent tiles — up, down, left, and right — around your feet all together.
- Expand the range by crouching: When used while crouching, the four corner tiles are added as well, letting you level a 3×3 grid at once.
- Clean seams: With the alternate action that shapes the terrain along blocks and shapes, the boundary between the ground and building materials seems to come out looking natural.
- The beginnings of Undead Legacy support: Version 0.1.2 appears to include initial compatibility support for Undead Legacy.
Installation Tips
As general points to keep in mind, the following seem to be noted.
- Must be installed on both client and server: Because it contains custom code, no server-only configuration is provided.
- EAC (Easy Anti-Cheat) must be turned off: You apparently need to disable EAC on both the client and the server. This is easy to overlook, so be careful.
- Specifying the folder name: You’re advised to rename the MOD folder to
zOcbDensityHoe. This is presumably for load-order reasons, so it’s safest to set it up exactly as instructed.
Before installing, we recommend always backing up your world and saves.
Who is this for?
- People who want to reduce the hassle of leveling when laying base foundations or doing large-scale grading
- Builder types who want to finish even the seams between the ground and building materials cleanly
- People playing in EAC-off environments, or on private / small-scale servers
Conversely, since it can’t be used as-is in official-leaning environments where you want EAC enabled, it seems best to consider installing it with that understanding in mind.
