The Pipe Bomb is a throwable explosive that’s easy to craft from the early game. As the description states, you can make it from Gun Powder, a Pipe, and Plant Fibers. Gun Powder comes from Nitrate Powder and Coal, and Pipes can be prepared from forging materials, so its appeal is that you can aim to mass-produce them relatively early.
How to Use
The controls are split into two steps.
- Secondary action ([action:local:Secondary]) to light it
- Primary action ([action:local:Primary]) to throw it
Since you light it before throwing, think of it as the type that explodes a short moment after it lands. If you forget to light it before throwing, it tends to be a dud, so it’s reassuring to drill the “light → throw” flow into muscle memory before a horde closes in.
Where to Use It
Its greatest strength is, of course, area suppression against zombie hordes (especially during a Blood Moon). Toss it into a cluster of gathered enemies to whittle them down while saving ammo. It’s most effective when you lure them into a narrow corridor or entrance first.
You can also take advantage of the explosive power to demolish obstacles and weak structures. However, since there’s a risk of blowing yourself up, keep plenty of throwing distance and position yourself so you don’t catch allies or your own base fixtures in the blast.
As a way to make up for the lack of firepower in the early game, we recommend always keeping a few in stock once you have materials to spare.
💡 Presentation idea: Adding a two-frame “light → throw” GIF to the article thumbnail, or a mini card comparing “ammo saved vs. damage dealt,” would greatly boost its appeal to early-game players.
