Damage model entirely changed, with impact damage severely reduced and instead transferred to the Dwell mechanic. Dwell has three stages, represented by smoking, sparking, and smoldering
Hitting a zombie while they are at least smoking does additional damage based on how much Dwell they have built up. Dwell decays over time if they haven't been hit for 2 seconds.
Elemental effects trip a smaller effect when a laser with an element installed hits a zombie that is at least smoking. When hitting a smoldering zombie, it unleashes a much stronger elemental effect.
Various mods have changed how they interact with the dwell system. Heatsink/unmodded adds one full level of dwell on hit, supercapacitor ads 1.5 levels of dwell, liquid cooler ats 0.5 levels on hit and 0.5 again 1.5 seconds later
Diode emitter adds dwell but does not interact with the bonus damage from dwell, it just has a large flat bonus to the impact damage. It also no longer applies empowered elemental effects when hitting a Smoldering enemy. It still applies a small effect hitting a Smoking enemy
Tech Junkie vol 6, Intellect Mastery 4+5 add a chance to add bonus dwell on hit. Nerd Tats adds +1 dwell on hit.
Beam modulators have all been changed to implement the new Dwell mechanic. New elements, Cryonic and Corrode have been added. Consolidated modulators that combine two existing elements into one mod have been added.
Xray has been conceptually retuned to offer less target penetration and instead apply effects targeting Radiated, Charged, and Infernal zombies specifically.
Instrument cases have been added as a way to store laser mods without eating up excessive inventory space. They offer minor benefits while held.

Added 3 more variant instrument cases, White, Black, and Green
White passively detects zombies and animals near you when held. It periodically pings if one is near enough. It also boosts search speed
Black causes enemies to be shocked and ragdolled for a bit when they damage a block immediately near you. Has a small cooldown.
Green increases crafting and scrapping speed while held.
Blue and Red cases have been given a small stamina regen boost while held.
Slowed the rate Dwell stages decay after not being hit with a laser for a few seconds
All instrument cases get a bonus when the player holding it has at least Advanced Engineering 3
Instrument case bonuses add an aura effect and +10 numerical bonus to most, the Black case instead increases radius and proc chance
Instrument cases have been renamed as Field Kits to better reflect their functionality.

Added an overheat system to the laser. Higher heat decreases efficiency, cooling mods alter how the heat behaves.
Each shot adds 1 heat. Each shot while at 10+ heat costs 1 extra durability. Each Shot at 20+ heat costs 2.5 extra durability
Heat rapidly dissipates after not shooting for 1 second, if at high heat, after 2 seconds it will dissipate at a slower rate
Relative heat is displayed on LED bar graph, level 1 heat is indicated by green LED and electric crackling, level 2 heat is indicated by red LED and alarm
Heat Sink makes each shot add only 0.75 heat. Liquid Cooler causes heat to dissapate 50% faster. Capacitor Bank halves the durability penalty.
Increased cooldown of Empowered effects
Increased light radius of the Sensor Field Kit while held
Fixed Xray Modulator text display.

Field Packs are added. They are an armor mod that offers the passive benefit of the corresponding field kit while equipped.
Additionally, field packs passively collect charge and give player a Battery Pack when charged sufficiently.
Charge rate is dependent on numerous factors like being in more difficult biomes, storms, blood moons, etc.
Warming Field Kit only improves stamina regeneration when stamina is below 50%
Reduced ragdoll cooldown on Cavitating effect.
Traders will now sell battery packs.
