What Kind of Item Is It?
The “Muzzle Brake Mod Schematic” is, as the name suggests, a schematic that lets you craft a firearm mod called a muzzle brake. Once you read the schematic, you can craft the corresponding mod at a workbench or similar station.
In real firearms, a muzzle brake is a device that redirects the gas pressure from firing to the sides or upward, suppressing the muzzle climb of the barrel. In 7 Days to Die, it works much the same way, functioning as a mod that primarily reduces the recoil of the gun it’s attached to.
When to Use It
- Great synergy with rapid-fire weapons: Attach it to guns like SMGs or assault rifles, where continuous fire tends to pull your aim upward, and your shots after the first will group more tightly.
- Good for those who want stable mid-range combat: With recoil kept in check, it becomes easier to land shots on distant enemies.
On the other hand, a muzzle brake is said to tend to make gunfire sound louder when attached, so if you prioritize stealth, it’s best to think of suppressor-type mods as serving a separate purpose (since there’s basically only one muzzle slot, it comes down to choosing which one to attach).
How to Obtain and Craft It
The schematic is generally obtained through loot (finds from exploration) or purchase from a trader. Once you’ve read it, you can mass-produce the mod through crafting from then on and swap it between multiple guns. If you want to upgrade your weapons, preparing one for the muzzle slot of your main gun first should make a visibly noticeable difference in how easy it is to handle.
*The magnitude of the effect and attachment conditions vary by version and gun type. Please check the actual values in the in-game item description or the attachment preview.
