The “Silencer” is a mod part that attaches to a gun’s muzzle slot, and reading this schematic lets you craft it yourself. You only need to read the schematic once to learn it. After that, just gather the required materials and you can mass-produce it at a workbench or similar station.
What is it used for?
The silencer’s job is to suppress the sound of gunfire. In 7DTD, zombies react to sound and come toward it, so quieter gunshots make it less likely you’ll needlessly draw nearby enemies. This mod pairs especially well with cleared-out areas around your base and with exploration or looting where you want to stay somewhat stealthy.
How to obtain and craft it
The main way to get the schematic is from the trader’s stock, various containers (especially gun-related loot), and looting. Once you’ve read and learned it, you craft the silencer by spending materials at a forge, workbench, or similar station. The finished silencer takes effect once installed on a gun that has a compatible muzzle slot.
When to use it
- During nighttime exploration or when melee is dangerous, when you want to avoid drawing enemies with every shot
- Clearing out enemies in a safe zone where you don’t want to stir up your base
- Sniper play, or quiet thinning of enemies with a handgun
Note that attaching it may have some effect on your shooting behavior (range, recoil, damage dealt, and so on). We recommend actually attaching and detaching it on your own guns to test whether it suits your style before using it regularly.
