What Kind of MOD Is This?
TMO-CORE appears to be a utility MOD built to serve as the “backbone (foundation)” for the group of Modlets that the author, TheMeanOneDevelopments, plans to release going forward. Rather than adding major new features on its own, it is positioned to work behind the scenes, providing the shared functionality and compatibility that more advanced MODs need to run correctly.
Judging from the description, it is still under development at this point and is at the “basic foundation” stage. The author states that advanced features related to MOD integration and configuration are planned for the future, and updates appear to be fairly frequent as well.
Main Features
- A dependency core for later MODs: There appear to be cases where it is required as a “prerequisite (Dependency)” when installing the author’s newer MODs. Rather than installing it on its own, it is likely intended to be used together with the MODs it supports.
- Server-side only: The current version (V1.0–2.0) reportedly runs on the server side only. Installation on the client side does not appear to be intended.
- EAC Friendly: It is said to work even with Easy Anti-Cheat left enabled.
- Harmony required: To enable it, you apparently need to include TFP (The Fun Pimps)’ official Harmony folder in your Mods folder.
- Work in progress: The author himself clearly states that it is “not close to finished yet,” so this appears to be a MOD built on the premise of future feature additions.
Installation Tips
As with typical MODs, it will likely be installed by extracting and placing it into the Mods folder. Since it is server-side only, for multiplayer or server operation it will probably be installed on the server side.
As mentioned above, enabling it apparently requires including TFP’s Harmony folder in your Mods folder, so it is reassuring to have that ready and not forget it. Also, since TMO-CORE alone may produce little noticeable change, it seems best to install it together with the author’s supported MODs that require it.
Since updates are said to be frequent, if you are running supported MODs, we recommend paying attention to version consistency and checking for the latest version regularly. And don’t forget to back up your world and save data before installing.
