Jakmeister999's REASONABLE Large Stacks (V3.0) — The "Just Right" Stack Expansion MOD

What is this MOD?

There are plenty of “Large Stacks” MODs out there, but most of them are pretty heavy-handed, letting you pile up to 30,000 of just about any item at once. This MOD offers a counterpoint. According to the author, the design philosophy is “not cranking everything up to 30,000, but instead increasing many items to a ‘reasonable’ amount.”

The result is that you gain the convenience of being able to carry a decent quantity of food, resources, and the like, while still keeping that quintessentially 7 Days to Die struggle of inventory management. Especially in the late game, once you’re handling large amounts of supplies, the tension of “where do I put all this?” never quite goes away. It’s best understood as a MOD aimed at “lightening the organizational hassle a bit” rather than granting unlimited wealth.

Key Features

  • Raised stack limits: The targets appear to be food and drinks, medical items, ammo, resources, and some other items. The exact numbers are said to be listed in full on the “Images” tab of the Nexus page, so checking there is the surest bet.
  • Making previously unstackable items stackable: Small engines, buckets, flashlights, paint brushes, wiring tools, dyes, and more can apparently now be stacked.
  • Honey adjustment: Given how frequently it’s used, honey is set to stacks of 50.
  • V3.0-compatible cleanup: Workstation-type tools that now have “Quality” attached, such as the cooking pot and anvil, have been dropped from the list. In their place, Brass Bundles and beakers/crucibles (with no quality) appear to have been added or re-added.

Installation Tips

As with typical server-side-leaning item MODs, the basic approach is likely to unzip it and place it in the Mods folder. We recommend backing up your world and save before installing.

One caution the author raises is how dyes are handled. When applying a dye to an item’s MOD slot, be sure to use only one at a time, not the whole stack. Applying it while still stacked risks losing the entire stack. This is an easy spot to get burned, so it’s worth keeping in mind.

Who is this for?

  • People who feel that “vanilla’s stack limits are a bit cramped, but the 30,000-stack MODs are so over-the-top they kill the fun.”
  • People who want to make gathering and stockpiling easier while still keeping some of the challenge of managing inventory.
  • People who struggle with managing “items you can only carry one at a time that quietly take up space,” like engines and buckets.

Conversely, for anyone who just wants to eliminate inventory worries entirely, it may feel lacking. It’s fair to call this a MOD suited to those looking for a balance-focused stack expansion.
