Faster Dew Collector(露収集器の高速化MOD)

What is this MOD?

The Dew Collector in 7 Days to Die is a handy block that gathers “Murky Water” for you just by leaving it out, but in vanilla it takes at least about 6 in-game hours to fill a single unit, which can feel a bit slow at times.

This MOD tweaks that generation speed and appears to cut the wait time roughly in half. According to the author’s description, what used to take a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 10 hours in vanilla is shortened with this MOD to about 3 hours minimum and 5 hours maximum. The values seem to be designed to vary per unit within that minimum-to-maximum range.

Key Features

  • About 2x generation speed: Shortens the wait until water fills up. It should help ease the early-game water shortage.
  • Increased stack size with the Tarp MOD: If you place a Tarp MOD in the Dew Collector’s “Tools” slot, each slot appears to hold a stack of 10 Murky Water. Without it, it’s 1 per slot.
  • Multiple speed variations: The main file is meant to be installed by choosing just one, and several options seem to be provided so you can pick the speed you prefer.
  • Files for older versions included: In addition to support for the current V3, files for Alpha 21 and later are reportedly still included.

Note that the collected “Murky Water” can’t be drunk as-is, so the usual flow of boiling it over a campfire with a cooking pot to make drinkable water remains the same as before.

Installation Tips

  • Manual installation is recommended. According to the author, using Vortex (an automatic installation tool) can cause it to misdetect the ModInfo format (which uses the new V2 format) and report an error, so manual installation is strongly recommended. Installing manually is said to avoid any issues.
  • Install only one main file (don’t add multiple).
  • The general process is to copy the entire folder inside the downloaded Mods folder into the game’s Mods directory. If you use it on a server, place it on the server side in the same way.
  • It should work with existing worlds after installation, but to be safe it’s a good idea to make a backup before trying it.

Who is this for?

  • People who tend to struggle with securing water early on, or who want to make gathering drinking water a bit more efficient.
  • People who want to run several Dew Collectors as a hands-off water source.
  • People who felt vanilla’s production speed was “a little slow.”

This isn’t something that greatly changes game balance; it’s more of a subtle-but-makes-daily-life-more-comfortable type of convenience MOD. It should pair well with relaxed survival runs or playstyles that want to reduce the stress of water management.
