SMX(By Sirillion) is one of the most famous UI overhaul mods for 7 Days to Die, completely reinventing the user interface (UI). From the menu screens to the in-game HUD and various windows, it pulls together the vanilla UI—which can otherwise look disjointed—into a unified, polished look.
This page is a template for setup notes. We’ll grow it over time by gradually adding our impressions from actually using it.
What kind of mod is it?
- Fully redesigns the UI for the menus, inventory, crafting screens, and more
- Also revamps the HUD (health, stamina, item slots, etc.) for better readability
- The layout of information and spacing is tidied up, so the screen looks cleaner and visibility improves
- A long-maintained staple with plenty of related add-ons
Supported Versions & Installation
- Download the latest version from the original Nexus page
- Place it in the
Mods/folder - This is a client-side mod that changes the appearance (UI). In multiplayer, each player basically installs it on their own PC (installing it only on the server won’t apply it)
- *Be sure to check the Nexus page for the supported versions
Compatibility & Cautions
- There’s a high chance of conflicts with other UI/HUD-modifying mods (such as AGF HUD), so it’s safest to stick to just one UI mod
- Layouts can change with version updates, so after a game update it’s wise to wait for a compatible version of SMX
Highlights & Impressions
- (We’ll add notes over time as we actually use it—screens that felt easier to read, add-on setups that pair well, and so on)
