What Kind of MOD Is This?
“Armor Racks (for v.3.0)” by JustAIter appears to be a gameplay MOD that adds humanoid racks (mannequins) where you can display and store your own armor sets. Its biggest appeal is being able to line up armor that tends to sit forgotten in storage as “display storage” at your base.
It goes beyond mere decoration: it reportedly also supports operations like wearing, removing, or wholesale swapping the armor hung on the rack right on the spot, so it can function as a gear-swapping station too. In addition to both male and female versions, 16 color variations are provided, so you can choose to match the mood of your base.
Main Features
- Display Your Gear Set: You can apparently show off a full set of armor by displaying it on a humanoid rack.
- Wear/Remove on the Spot: Aim at a body part and press
Eto place armor in that slot or equip it, reportedly. - Take / Take All: From the
Ehold menu, you can also just take items out without equipping them. - Swap All: You can apparently exchange your entire currently-worn set with the rack’s set all at once. This seems suited to keeping separate gear for exploring and for base duty.
- Place Holding: You can hang armor you’re holding in hand directly onto the rack via the
Ehold menu, reportedly. - Choosing the Look: By holding the
Rkey plus the Shapes menu, you can apparently switch between the male/female variants and the colors.
Installation Tips
- According to the description, this MOD requires EAC (Easy Anti-Cheat) turned OFF, and appears to assume installation on both server and client. Note that if you use it in multiplayer, every participant will need to install it.
- Installation is the same as for typical MODs: you unzip the file and place its contents into the
Modsfolder (by default%APPDATA%/7DaysToDie/Mods). - As the name “for v.3.0” indicates, it is said to be intended for version 3.0, so it’s safest to check how it matches your own environment’s version on the Nexus distribution page.
- After installation, the controls will mainly center on the aforementioned
E(wear/remove, take, swap) andR(change appearance).
Who Is This For?
- Collectors who want to display and enjoy the armor and upgraded gear they’ve gathered at their base
- Players with a playstyle that uses different gear for exploring, building, horde defense, and so on, who want to change outfits quickly
- Players who care about their base’s interior and want to stage roleplay or stream-worthy scenes with mannequin-like objects
On the other hand, since it assumes EAC OFF and installation for everyone, it may be a bit of a hurdle for those who prefer casual, vanilla-leaning multiplayer. It’s a MOD that seems especially well suited to players who want to take their time enjoying base-building.
As an additional note, for our community, introducing a way to use it where you “display gear at your base with colors matched to your faction color” could make for a good article application as a visual staging effect for faction bases. If needed, I can also prepare a layout proposal that inserts images (screenshots and GIFs posted on Nexus).
